Last Friday night, in a CIF playoff match at Malibu High, the Cate boys varsity volleyball team lost a heartbreaker match to the #1 seed Malibu in five sets. The team started out playing on all cylinders and took the first set quickly. However, Malibu battled back and eeked out the second set by two points. Cate responded with winning a close third set, but entering into the fourth set up 2-1, the team got stuck in the doldrums. It seemed no matter how hard they rallied they just couldn’t get enough wind in the sails to propel them forward. The fifth set started out a bit clunky as well and Malibu basically outlasted Cate for the match win. The Cate team never gave up, they worked hard putting it all out into the floor until the very last point…it was a good, hard fought run all season. We bid a fond farewell to our seniors, captain Clyde Kye, Oliver Lee, Dilan Lee, and Ben Richmond. It’s been a crazy fun ride 🙂
