Eleven Cate Track & Field athletes took to the field at Carpinteria High School for the CIF-SS Division 4 Prelims, delivering a display of athleticism and determination. While ninth-grader Sophie Blank narrowly missed out on a Finals berth, her outstanding performance in the 1600-meter run showcased immense promise for the future. Meanwhile, seniors Everest Schipper and Seb Sutch punched their tickets to the CIF-SS D4 Finals for the second consecutive year, displaying grit and skill. Everest’s personal best time of 4:20.18 in the 1600 meters and Seb’s season-best of 4:22.75 affirmed their dominance, with Seb also excelling in the 800 meters and Everest in the 3200 meters. Adding to the triumph, teammate Muhsin Abdul-Hakim’s ’24 qualification in the Shot Put underscored the team’s all-around strength. As the finals beckon at Moorpark High School on May 11th, the Cate Track & Field team gears up for an exhilarating showdown, fueled by determination and a hunger for victory.
