Cate Girls Varsity played against Thacher on Tuesday, September 24th.

Cate started off strong in the first game, getting out to an early lead and staying on top thanks to strong serving and attacking, closing the game out 25-15. The second game was close for the first half before Cate broke away due to an eight-point serving spree. Cate ended up winning the second game 25-20. Cate was up big in the third game before Thacher made a comeback to get within one point. Cate finished off the match with a 25-23 win in dramatic fashion.

“Was great to see everyone contribute to our win tonight. Players stepped up and made great plays and we won as a team, quality overall team effort. Senior Sienna Charvel went on an eight-point serving spree in the second game and served tough for the duration of the match. She played a huge role in securing the win for us. Junior Oyin Opawumi had 22 kills off of 32 attempts with only 1 error, registering an impossibly high .656 hitting average. Oyin stepped up yet again and delivered big time for us. Looking forward to a challenging team in St Bonaventure this Friday night.” said coach Jordon Dyer.
