Cate Sweeps Villanova Prep in Thrilling Victory

Rams rally for a clutch 28-26 win in the first set and dominate the rest of the match, led by standout performances from Oyin Opawumi ’25 and Fallon Erickson ’25.

The first game was back and forth at the beginning until Villanova Prep broke away and got up late 23-19, although Cate was able to rally back and complete the comeback winning 28-26. Cate served aggressive in the second game and broke away to a large lead thanks to consistent overall play. In the third game Cate marched out early and kept a sizeable lead until they closed out the match 25-21.

“Great overall team effort tonight, everyone contributed and did they’re job well enough for us to come out with a win that we needed. Junior Fallon Erickson came up with 18 assists, 6 aces 12 digs which made a huge impact on the game tonight. Sophomore KayKay Ercil got her first start tonight and stepped up big time with 9 assists in limited minutes. Junior Evangeline Little lead the team in serve receive passes which helped us sideout steadily throughout the match. The MVP of tonight’s game was undoubtedly Junior Oyin Opawumi who had 26 kills off of 49 attempts hitting a whopping .429. Oyin played her best game of the season tonight when we needed her to do so, she lead us to victory with a great supporting cast.” said coach Jordon Dyer.
