Rams Start Strong but Fall to Bishop Diego in Four Sets

Cate Girls Varsity showcases resilience; Opawumi shines with 17 kills

Cate Girls Varsity played against Bishop Diego on October 1st.

Cate started the match off on the right foot with aggressive serving and good serve receive passing. The Rams got up late in the first game and won 25-22. Bishop bounced back in the second game and got out to a big lead, before Cate marched back only to come up short 22-25. Bishop stepped their serves up in game 3, winning 25-16. In the fourth set Bishop got out to an early lead and then let Cate back in late but was able to close out the match 25-22.

“We had some ups and downs in the tonight’s match. We did a good job of blocking the ball and managed to serve well when we kept the ball in the court. Oyin Opawumi ’26 scored well from the front and back row with 17 kills and Fallon Erickson ’26 did a good set of setting her the ball. Emerson Evans ’26 had 4 big blocks and scored for us on the service line several times. Overall, we had a few good chances but came up short. Looking forward to improving and moving on to the next opponent on Thursday.” said coach Jordon Dyer.
