The Cate JV football team opened their season with a 43-8 victory over Carpinteria High School on Tuesday, October 1. It was the first time the two squads have faced off on the JV level.
There was plenty of scoring on the afternoon for the Rams. Quarterback Alek Kroel ’27 tossed three touchdowns on the day: one to Ethan Guerrier ’27, a deep shot to Malcom Gray ’28, and a third to Tres Davidson ’26. Marcelo Emal-Langrand ’27 got in on the scoring action with a touchdown run of his own late in the game. Kroel ’27 did some scoring from the defensive side as well, as he picked up a Warrior pass and took it to the house for a touchdown. Sam Lambiotte ’28 also had a rushing touchdown.
The Cate defense was fast and physical on the day. Andrew Jayich ’28, Rowan Foster ’28, Michael Kranch ’28, and Shogo Hayashi ’27 all caused havoc on the Warriors offensive live. Lambiotte ’28 was a tackling machine for Cate, as was Kunqi Wang ’28.
This was a great first step for our young guys. This group has a chance to be very special as they continue to improve and grow. I’m really proud of their hard work and I’m so psyched to see how much this team progresses!
