The Cate boys varsity water polo team hosted Foothill Tech for our final league match of the season. This was a crucial game as a win would put us through to the CIF playoffs. The match’s final score was a 14-8 win for the Cate Rams. For the second time this season against Foothill Tech, the man of the match was 9th grader Fletcher Prince. He finished with an astounding seven goals. Fletcher could not be stopped in the interior of Foothill’s defense. Our attackers kept feeding him in the middle of the cage, and time and again, he would deliver. Other scorers for the Rams were Elliott Paige ’25 (3), Baye Breene ’25 (3), and Jae Wykoff ’26 (1).
The defensive standouts were Sebastian Brine ’26 and Christian Busse ’25. The team was forced to play against a zone defense against a talented center for Foothill and Brine and Busse were active all game. The tandem tallied tons of steals and shot blocks because of their body positioning and overall defensive awareness.
Coach Morrison Quotes
“Our guys put together four great quarters of water polo yesterday. Foothill made a solid run to start the second period and we rallied the storm. Adjustments were made and our guys executed the game plan at a very high level. A performance like this feels great heading into the postseason. The playoff bracket will be released Friday at 2 pm. GO RAMS!
