Goals: Precious Adjei (39 min, 68 min), Gigi Bracher (77 min)

What an exciting win. As I told the team at half time, I’ve been proud of their play for a long time now, obviously. They play a beautiful possession style that shines on our big home field. It looked beautiful this afternoon as well, but today it had an extra edge: we were threatening. You could sense the goals coming. That was a new feeling – a really exciting feeling – made even more meaningful by the recent effort they’ve put into training to attack. A lot of the energy came from the midfield where Claire Bianchi ’26 and Precious Adjei ’27 dominated. They were relentless in winning loose balls, completed an impressive 60 passes together, and held possession skillfully to let plays develop. Our defense was equally outstanding. Lauren Hubbs ’26 and Analise Gomez ’27 worked tirelessly on the wings, using their speed to support the offense as well. In the middle, Zoë Flint’25 and Zyla Dhillon ’25 had standout performances, stepping into tackles confidently, winning possession, and connecting over 40 passes between them.

Goal Scoring Highlights:

After several real opportunities, the first goal came in the 39th minute. Precious advanced the ball from the back to Tania, who earned a foul in the offensive third. Precious took the kick and the ball ricocheted off the wall into the really dangerous empty space between the keeper and our crashing attackers. With everyone on both teams running toward the net, the ball knocked off a Foothill defender for our first goal.

The second goal was the result of one of Lauren’s big throws (we should have been counting how many she took today!). Part of our training last week was about creating space and maintaining possessions during restarts; this throw-in was textbook. Addie Bracher stretched the field up high and Lauren managed to get the ball to her feet. With one touch, Addie  played the ball across the offside line where Precious ran through and tucked the ball nicely around the keeper. This style of goal scoring made up of small, deliberate decisions is just what we were hoping to achieve and it felt a bit magical to watch it happen during the game.

The third goal came ten minutes later. Nearing the end of the game, Nika somehow summoned the energy to make another run up the right side, taking on her defender with confidence and achieving an angled cross to the perfectly positioned Gigi Bracher ’28 . Gigi took a touch and put the ball in the corner of the net with complete composure.

In the final minutes, tired legs allowed a consolation goal for the opposition—a small price for such a high-energy performance against a traditionally dominant team.

Come watch this group play! We have two more games before the break: we play at Thacher on Friday (always one of our most evenly matched and hardest fought contests) and home against St. Bonaventure on Monday.
