The Cate Rams traveled to Oxnard and delivered a commanding 16–1 victory over the Santa Clara Saints, improving to 5–3 overall and 3–1 in Frontier League play.
Senior captain Peter ‘25 was dominant on the mound, tossing a complete game with 15 strikeouts over 7 innings. After allowing a single and an unearned run in the first inning, the lefty settled in and didn’t give up another hit the rest of the way. He finished with 93 pitches (63 strikes), walking only two.
Offensively, the Rams exploded for 8 runs in the first inning and never looked back. Senior captain Quinn ‘24 led the way with a perfect 4-for-4 performance, including two doubles, two singles, four RBIs, a walk, and a stolen base. His near-home run in the first inning hooked just foul before hitting the top of the wall for a double.
Junior Noah ‘25 added a 3-for-5 effort, including a double, two RBIs, and two steals. Junior Chase ‘25 tripled as part of his 2-for-4 day, also walking once and driving in a run. Sophomore Alex ‘27 contributed a single and two RBIs, while freshman Jonah ‘28 added an RBI single of his own. Sophomore Shogo ‘27 collected his first varsity hit and RBI with a sharp single up the middle.
The Rams showed great plate discipline as a team, drawing nine walks and creating pressure on the bases throughout the game.
Making their varsity debuts, Mike ‘25, David ‘27, and Cohen ‘28 came on as pinch runners, with David and Cohen both scoring their first varsity runs.
Head Coach Ben Soto shared after the game:
“Great to get everyone who suited up into the game! ‘Lefty’ was awesome on the hill—Quinn and Noah continue to swing a hot bat.”
