The Cate community celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. Day with an enriching day of exploration, diving into “The Power of Protest: From King to Hip-Hop.” Guest speaker Ademola Oyewole-Davis shared his insights on the evolution of rap and hip-hop and the importance of self-expression.
Following a celebration of music with faculty and student performances in the Hitchcock Theatre, students engaged in a variety of workshops, discussing a broad range of topics from Hip-Hop & Mental Health to Poetry as Protest. The day of celebration culminated in the Katharine Thayer Memorial Chapel with a moving rendition of Glory by Cate’s orchestra and vocal ensembles.
