Cate got on the board when Quincy Thorne ‘26 knocked in a field goal from 25 yards out early in the first quarter. Quinn Pullen ‘25 found Ethan Rehnborg ‘25 for a 20-yard touchdown near the end of the 1st quarter. Pullen ‘25 called his own number and scampered into the end zone for a 9-yard touchdown run. The Rams closed out the first half with a 30-yard bomb from Pullen ‘25 to Jacob Gabbay ‘25. Cate led 23-0 at the break.
The Rams’ defense got in on the scoring, as Josh Butler ‘26 picked off a pass and took it to the house for a touchdown. Rehnborg ‘25 ran one in from 15 yards out in the third quarter. Cate’s final score came on another Butler ‘26 interception return for a touchdown. This game was dominated by Cate’s defense. The Rams were stout all game long and went toe to toe with a physical Laguna team. The Rams have now gone 9 straight quarters without giving up a score.
Head Coach Ben Soto added, “I’m proud of the way we went about our business today. I’m really proud of the defense for the way they’ve been playing and our offense was mostly crisp all afternoon. As always, there is plenty to clean up. We look forward to doing that this week as we prepare for what’s ahead.”
The Rams return to action when they host Orcutt Academy on Saturday October 19th, 2pm.
