On Monday night, the Cate Girls Varsity Basketball team put on a strong performance in Simi Valley, securing a victory over the Royal High School 49-36. From the tip, the Rams played aggressively on both ends of the court, showcasing offensive execution, unselfishness, and relentless defense, while their rebounding effort was a standout factor in the win. Senior Sam Jimenez led the charge with a stellar all-around performance, putting up 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 steals. Her leadership and poise on the court were key to the Rams’ success. Junior Emerson Evans also made her presence felt, contributing 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 blocks.
Despite being on a minutes restriction, senior Lilli Whelan played an instrumental role, adding 8 critical points that helped maintain the Rams’ momentum after their 19-point lead dissipated late in the 3rd quarter. Junior Maia Holmes continued her impressive play with phenomenal interior passing, as well as 6 points, 5 assists, and 10 rebounds.
The win was a true team effort, with each player contributing to the victory. The Rams will look to carry this momentum into Tri-Valley league play after the New Year.
