Originally from Central New York, Shannon began pursuing her career at Elmira College where, as an undergrad, she was a student athletic trainer with various athletic teams and an intern at St. Mark’s School in Massachusetts. While at Elmira she created her own major geared towards graduate school requirements and graduated with her BA in Pre-Physical Therapy in 2008. Following graduation, Shannon went on to pursue her Masters in Athletic Training at Seton Hall University where she completed semester long clinical rotations at The Lawrenceville School, at Lenape Valley Regional High School, and with The Somerset Patriots Minor League baseball team. She also presented a two-year-long group research project at the National Athletic Trainers Association annual meeting in 2010.
After graduation in 2010, Shannon moved to Massachusetts to take a position as the Athletic Trainer at Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School and as a personal trainer at The Body Workshop in Dedham, MA.
Shannon is very excited to be working at Cate School. When she’s not in the athletic training room, you can find her hitting the field hockey ball, working out, or at the beach!
Originally from Ventura County, California, Lauren began pursuing her career at California State University, Sacramento. As an undergrad, she worked with a diverse spectrum of Division I teams as well as community college athletics. Lauren graduated in 2014 with her BS in Athletic Training. Following graduation and becoming a Certified Athletic Trainer, Lauren attended the University of West Alabama to pursue her Master of Art in Teaching degree, with a concentration and emphasis in Athletic Training. Lauren was a full-time graduate student, also working as a graduate assistant athletic trainer with the University, having full autonomy over her four assigned athletic teams.
After graduation in 2016, Lauren was accepted into the Fellowship program at UC Davis, where she worked primarily with the cross country and track and field teams. She traveled all over the country with these teams, including a trip to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon. Following her fellowship, she moved to Los Angeles to accept a full-time position with Occidental College, working primarily with cross country, track and field, women’s volleyball, and basketball.
Lauren is very excited to be working at Cate School and become part of the community. When she is not in the athletic training room, she enjoys playing volleyball, golfing, hiking, and spending time with family!
Lieah Maxfield began her athletic training career by completing her bachelor of science degree in kinesiology at San Diego State University in 2012. She left San Diego to continue her education at East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania where she gained experience as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer for ESU’s women’s field hockey and women’s lacrosse teams. Upon graduation in 2015 from the Advanced Clinical Practicum in Athletic Training master’s program, she continued her career in college athletics where she was able to work closely with both men’s and women’s sports. One of her highlights was working with the University of Antelope Valley’s baseball team and making it to the 2018 World Series in Lewiston, Idaho. Most recently, Lieah has worked as a per diem athletic trainer providing first aid and emergency care for youth sports tournaments and camps across Southern California.
Lieah’s priority is the health and success of all the athletes she works with, not only on the field but in their endeavors beyond their sport. When not working, she enjoys backpacking in the summer, skiing in the winter, and taking walks with her husband & dogs daily.
